In 1995, Princess Jayendra Kumari ji had decided to restore this old palace and to give it a shape of the luxurious and the finest heritage hotel of the world; changes were made with all swiftness. The construction of palace started during the Mughal period hence the architecture is influenced by the Mughal architecture pattern of arched corridors, frescoes a charbagh Mughal garden quite similar to the Fatehpur Sikri Chowk. Being a courtyard garden it has an excellent air current with sun Light and sound insulating The platform in the middle of the garden is the place where the Thakur sahib used to play game of chess while his wife could watch it from her room window. This platform was also used for performances by artists and the ladies could watch from their rooms . The family renovated the elaborate complex of
courtyards, arched corridors and residential quarters to restore the
mansion to all of its original glory. With 40 well-appointed rooms and beautiful venues, The Raj Palace was opened for the guest in 1997. Professional managers were hired to run the property operations and an experience of rich culture and heritage is very much alive with the old staff that has been here since generations serving the guest in style that was so far reserved for royalty. | ||
